Whether you’re expanding your expertise for career growth, supporting a comprehensive campaign, or responding to a strategic plan that elevates the importance of future-focused philanthropy, you’re stepping into the world of charitable gift planning at a pivotal moment. As you build your knowledge, two pathways emerge: mastering the technical mechanics of planned gifts and cultivating the deep, long-term relationships that make these gifts possible.
This session focuses on the latter – strengthening relationships that lead to meaningful, well-crafted legacy commitments. Through a blend of presentation, discussion, and hands-on interaction, participants will learn how to:
Build awareness and confidently open conversations about legacy giving
Guide prospects toward practical next steps, including beneficiary designations in DAFs, IRAs, and retirement plans, charitable gift annuities, will commitments, and gifts requiring probate
Use thoughtful follow-up strategies to nurture interest and reinforce long-term philanthropy
Interactive components will invite participants to outline a forward-looking case for support, role-play conversations, identify opportunities to expand their professional referral network, and draft meaningful KPIs to share with key stakeholders.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of why planned gifts are rarely decided in a single meeting, how to help ensure these relationships remain strong, and why stewardship continues well after a planned gift is documented – because someone’s legacy journey often includes more than one meaningful gift.
