When a nonprofit receives a testamentary gift - whether from a deceased donor’s estate or from living donors - complex ethical questions often arise. From conflicts of interest and family disputes to questions about donor intent, fiduciary duties, and organizational responsibilities, professionals across the charitable and advisory spectrum can find themselves navigating challenging terrain.

In this session, the presenter will illuminate common, often overlooked, ethical roadblocks that charities, fiduciaries, and legal advisors may encounter during the administration and recognition of planned gifts. Through real-world examples and an interactive dialogue with attendees, the session will explore practical options for addressing these dilemmas while upholding the highest standards of ethical practice.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to identify risks early, manage stakeholder expectations, and make decisions that honor donor intent, protect organizational integrity, and support sound professional judgment.
